Businesses large and small from across the region are being encouraged
to enter this year’s Inspire Business Awards.
Organised by Destination Basingstoke, the call has gone out to businesses that pay their business rates in one of the sponsoring local authority areas – Rushmoor, Hart, Basingstoke and Deane and Test Valley – to enter INSPIRE16.
There are 12 categories up for grabs.
Among those calling on businesses to enter the prestigious awards is Miaya KC, who is assistant managing director of growing Aldershot-based cleaning firm YBC Services.
She knows only too well what winning an Inspire award can bring, having attended the glamourous awards night, held in November, twice.
The first time was in 2009 when her boss, YBC Services founder and managing director, Yogendra Bahadur Chhetri, won Entrepreneur of the Year and in 2012 when the firm won the Service Excellence Award in 2012.
Miaya said winning the awards had a positive impact on the business, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary.
She said: “Since winning the Service Excellence Award, YBC has expanded both geographically, into West Sussex and Kent, but also diversified into additional complimentary facilities management services – security, grounds maintenance and pest control.”
The business now boasts a turnover of £4.2million, employing 530 people.
Miaya added: “The Service Excellence award has helped to differentiate YBC from other facilities management services players, that operate on a national or local level. The business has gained great confidence from the accolade, and this has assisted in attracting new staff and new clients.”
Miaya said the pre and post-award publicity helped to enhance the company image, which in turn assisted business growth and development. “There is a network of individuals you meet – for example other business leaders, community leaders, and council representatives – which you normally would not interact in your business on a day to day basis,” explained Miaya.
“Without a doubt we have increased the number of clients we have and some of this we can attribute to the reinforcement of the award, which has assisted the progress we have made.”
Delighted with the positive feedback the firm received from winning both accolades, Miaya said: “This was a nice gesture from our clients, showing loyalty and support.”
Miaya has some sound advice for those thinking of entering Inspire16.
She said: “YBC is a good example of business success. Any external awards are important to reinforce you are better than others.
Recalling the glitzy Inspire12 awards night, Miaya said: “What a glamourous night, where you are wined, dined and entertained – alongside winning an award – what more could you ask for?
